Oh yes: the cafe racer scene is booming! Last week we’ve posted our modern cafe racer top 5, but now we have a problem since Triumph announced the complete new Triumph Thruxton R. This is a serious candidate for becoming number 1 in that list. Triumph revealed a whole new line of modern classics:
- Bonneville Street Twin
- Bonneville T120
- Bonneville T120 Black
- Thruxton
- Thruxton R
With this new range, Triumph focuses on more power and speed and introduced a new liquid cooled 1200cc engine (the Street Twin keeps the standard 865cc engine). All models are brought “up to date” with some modern upgrades like:
- Ride-by-wire throttle
- ABS
- Slip-assist clutch
- Traction control (can be switched off!)
- LED rear light
- USB charging socket
But the model we’re interested in is that awesome looking, high spec Triumph Thruxton R… With this model, Triumph aims for the absolute top of modern classics. The full specs are not released yet, but here are some teasers.
- Showa big piston front fork
- Öhlins rear shocks
- Brembo monoblocs
- Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa Tyres
These specs looks expensive, but we can’t wait to get the full spec list.
Triumph Thruxton R “Performance Race Kit”
As you can expect there is a wide range of custom parts and kits. But there is more: exclusively for the Triumph Thruxton R you can order the “Performance Race Kit”. No specs yet but the press release covered this: “The Factory Race kit will take the standard engine performance to an even higher level, with more power, torque and lower overall weight.”
We can’t wait…!
